HOLY ARCHITECTURE, BATMAN!

Prepare thyselves - a lot of pictures are to follow.

So I'm back from Western Denmark. It was pretty cooool. Lots of farms, little old towns with cute Danish vernacular houses, and the lovely Århus! OMG a real city, no way. It was cozy and chill with, as everyone assured me, a great nightlife (though everyone in my tour group was too exhausted to take advantage of it *sigh*).

But I'm so happy to be back in CPH/Humlebæk. This place must be becoming my home, since I was actually a bit homesick during the 3 days I was away.

So on with it! Stuff I saw:

a recreation of a Viking house (Trelleborg)

SHEEP (Trelleborg)

the remnants of a Viking city/fortification (Trelleborg)

a traditional Danish church, complete with ceiling boat (Ørbæk Kirke)

works by Danish artists from the island of Funen (Faaborg Museum)

a castle with neato-cool modernish renovations on it (Koldinghus)

... wait for it... (Koldinghus)

OH THOSE CLEVER ARCHITECTS (Koldinghus)

adorable cat/faucet fountain (Århus University)

WAIT WHAT IS GOING ON HERE (ARoS Museum)

yeah that's right, Your Rainbow Panorama by Olafur Eliasson (ARoS Museum)

it was obligatory to take about 1,000 pictures in here (ARoS Museum)

I'm almost done, I promise (ARoS Museum)

can't forget the crazy smoke room, another Olafur Eliasson work (ARoS Museum)

one of the most amazing things, Boy by Ron Mueck (ARoS Museum)

in case you can't tell, I really loved this museum (ARoS Museum)

here's Århus, in case you were wondering

here's a full shot of Your Rainbow Panorama (from atop Århus City Hall)

Honorable mentions go to the Trapholt Museum and Ravnsbjerg Kirke, into which I forgot to bring my camera... May post some of my study sketches at some point in the future though. We went through the Århus City Hall as well but... ehh, I didn't like it that much. Not my favorite Arne Jacobsen. Anyway, I didn't get any spectacular photos of it.

WOO THAT WAS A LOT. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW PEOPLE?

Ciao

- Mac
